Culinary Youth Team Canada

IKA 2020 Culinary Olympics, 2 Gold Medals, 4th overall
The Restaurant des Nations competition 2018, Luxemburg 2 Siver Medals

Culinary Youth Team Canada garnered two gold medals and placed fourth in the world in the IKA / Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany, the highest finish ever of any Canadian Junior National Team.

The team competed against 23 other junior national teams from around the world in the IKA Buffet and the Restaurant of Nations. In both competitions, the young chefs demonstrated that Canada can keep pace with the top talent from around the world. Their efforts were the culmination of more than two years of hard work and dedication, said Chef Austin Clement, program manager for The Culinary Institute of Canada and Chef de Mission, Culinary Youth Team Canada.

“The Culinary Institute of Canada and Holland College committed to supporting the national team, as we did in 2004 and 2008, throughout its development, and we are extremely proud of what they were able to accomplish. They basically put their lives on hold for two years to develop their skills and prepare to be measured against their peers in the worlds top arena.”

Junior Culinary Team Canada

Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 IKA Culinary Olympics

The team from Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute competed in at the IKA /Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany. Junior Culinary Team is among 20 junior national teams – among 2,000 chefs from more than 50 countries around the world – competing at the 24th IKA / Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany from October 22 to 25. Known as the IKA/Culinary Olympics, the International Culinary Art Exhibition is the largest international professional competition for chefs, cooks and pastry chefs, held once every four years.

“This is a great accomplishment and a testament to the hard work they have put in over the years,” said team manager, and dean of the College’s CFWI, Craig Youdale. “Our College should be super excited about their accomplishment, and it was special to see the NC button take on a global challenge and come out shining like gold.”

Junior Culinary Team Canada garnered two silver medals in the world in the IKA / Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany.

The team competed against 25 other junior national teams from around the world in the IKA Buffet and the Restaurant of Nations. In both competitions, the young chefs representing Vancouver Community College demonstrated that Canada’s Junior chefs can compete against with the top talent from around the world.
